There are many ways to oppress people. One way is by taking away their identity. Afghanistan as a country of different ethnicities has always seemed to be troubled with its identities, yet another taboo topic amongst the people. The threat of being called a “traitor” and a “foreigner” hangs over those who dare tread upon the topic of national identity. For the longest time, the term “Afghan” has been pushed upon every ethnic group of Afghanistan and for years, that is what Tajiks, Hazaras, Uzbeks, Turkmans, and other non-Pashtuns were known by the rest of the world. Today, however, it needs to be made clear that “Afghan” is not the rightful national identity for the country.

The history behind the word “Afghan” is disputable due to various sources of where it originated from. However, one thing is clear: “Afghan” has always been synonymous with Pashtun. Writers and travelers to and from the country have stated that the word “Afghan” was always used to distinguish between the Pashtuns and non-Pashtuns such as the Tajiks, Hazaras, etc. The name of country is believed to have been given by the British when they first invaded the country in the 19th Century. The areas that they encountered were predominantly Pashtun and since they knew “Afghan” as synonymous with “Pashtun” they therefore erroneously declared the entire country as “Land of the Afghan” or “Afghanistan.” And even though the majority of Afghanistan isn’t even Afghans, the name has stuck since then.

Before the invention of the “Afghanistan,” the land used to be known as other names: Ariana and Khorasan, with the most recent being Khorasan. The region was called Khorasan for 1500 years and the name was fairer and represented the state as well as the people better. It clearly doesn’t favor one ethnicity over another. As Khorasan, the region was once an advancing civilization and embodied many ethnicities. However, as the Pashtun nomads entered and invaded the regions, they scattered and spread over, imposing their existence as well as a need for a country.

Now, it doesn’t take a Ph.D.—self-taught or not—to figure out that those events were not just. And no matter what changes the country and the people have gone through, the term “Afghan” is not a legitimate one. Tajiks and Hazaras and Uzbeks and other non-Pashtuns were never and will never be Afghan. When the literal term of a word obviously means something you are not why would you be crazy enough to fight for the right to be called one? By non-Pashtuns adamantly choosing to call themselves Afghan just because they want peace and quiet, they are inadvertently throwing their rights and their heritage away. Losing your identity as a Hazara or a Tajik, Uzbek, or Turkman, you are being oppressed and your heritage and history is being rewritten to those who crawled out of the Suleiman Mountains. When you don’t even speak the language of an Afghan (supposedly Pashto) then why call yourself one?

There are a lot of people that will threaten you if you refuse to call yourself an Afghan when you aren’t one. They will call you a “traitor” or “foreigner” and try to get the mass against you. There is a full culture and history behind the names of “Tajik” and “Hazara,” etc. When the world thinks of “Afghans” hardly anything good will come to mind. It is often associated with the horrors of Ahmad Shah Abdali, pedophilia, the Taliban, and now drug dealers. Though there are some bad within non-Pashtuns, they, however, have contributed greatly to the world and to civilization. When you begin to associate yourself with what you rightfully are, you will see just how rich your past is. Rumi, Avicenna, Sa’adi, they were not Afghans and would never have called themselves one.

When the slaves were brought from Africa to America, the first thing the enslavers did was change the names of the slaves because they knew that was the only way to completely rid them of their identity and utterly deter them. They knew it would give them total control over them and help their oppression because they weren’t even allowed their own natural, rightful names. During the Holocaust, the Nazis took away the names and identity of the Jews and just replaced them with numbers because they knew it was a way to dehumanize them. Taking away someone’s name and identity is the surest way to destroy them as a people. Every evildoer has known this.

The national identity is constantly surrounded by lies and deceit. Pashto is trying to be pushed upon those who have no need for it, the word Afghan is insisted upon even though the majority of Afghanistan isn’t even Pashtun. Afghans have always and will always be known as Pashtuns only. A Tajik and an Uzbek and other non-Pashtuns are separate and they should be known as separate. When this comes to light, only then will the people be able to gain the rest of their rights. Only then will the name of the country be forced to change because it isn’t a fair representation of the majority of the people. The people who don’t wish to call themselves Afghan are not trying to start trouble. Instead, they have opened their eyes and trying to open the eyes of others to the mistake and the lie that has covered the entire people. Issues like these need to be discussed because even though they might seem minor, they are in fact major. If the name non-Pashtuns choose to call themselves isn’t such a “big deal” then why are people trying so hard to fight those that decline the name Afghan?

دوم در مورد قتل اشرف رمضان، اشرف رمضان توسط رقیبش حاجی محمد محقق بقتل رسید. سخن این است که مححق از اعتبار، ثروت وشهرت و برنده شدن اشرف رمضان نگران بود بشدت نگران بود. چون او اگر به بارلمان می رفت محقق و اشرف می شد برابر دیگه گب از استاد و حاجی اشرف نبود او می شد یک خلیلی خطرناک برای محقق در خانی ریس قبیله هزاره. بنا محقق او را بقتل رساند و از مرگش بیراهن حضرت عثمان ساخت و گریه کرد و گله قومی برچی را شوراند و بر موقعیت و بزرگی اش در میان قبیله هزاره افزود.
محقق که شاگرد و مهره سازمان اطلاعات ایران است مانند خلیلی و دیگرانش از مزدوری سازمان اسختبارات کشور دوست باکستان هم بی بهر نمانده است. روزنامه افغانستان و اوت لوک افغانستان که توسط یک باکستانی افغان اداره می شود از دوستان فاملی محقق است و خبر دست داشتن محقق در قتل اشرف هم از حلقه هزاره یست های اطراف محقق درز کرده است. شاد کام باشید

به نظرم شما در جواب یک فرد که مقاله نوشته است به مردم هزاره تاخته اید. فکر نمی کنم که قبیله یا گله ای قومی خطاب کردن یک مردم خیلی عاقلانه باشد. برادر عزیز مردم افغانستان و در کل جامعه ای افغانستان یک جامعه ای قبیلوی است. در این میان فرقی عمده ای میان اقوام این کشور نیست. شما بروید عادلانه جامعه ای افغانستان بررسی کنید. طبق هر معیاری این یک جامعه ای بسته و قبیلوی است. مثلا همین شما که به جواب نظر یک فرد بر یک مردم می تازید در حقیقت ذهنیت قبیلوی خود را نشان داده اید. در ضمن کنایه بازی هم درد ما مردم را دوا نمی کند. من راستش فکر نمی کنم که در قبیلوی بودن هزاره ها بیشتر از دیگر اقوام افغانستان قبیلوی باشند. در ضمن من اگر شما محقق و یا خلیلی را خان هزاره ها می دانید کمی اشتباه می کنید در حقیقت فهم نادرست خود از جامعه ای افغانستان را نشان می دهید. این مثل این است که مثلا مسعود را یک خان تاجیک ها بنامیم. در حالیکه او یک خان نبود گرچند جامعه ای تاجیک اساسا قبیلوی است. یا مثلا کرزی را نمی توان خان یک قوم دیگر دانست. درست است که بشتون ها قبیلوی اند اما کرزی یک خان نیست. شما بهتر با مفاهیم اجتماعی کمی با سوادانه تر برخورد کنید. مهم نیست که رمضان را کی کشته است اما مهم این است که قاتل او از میان مجاهدین صاحبان بوده اند. مهم نیست یک کجاهد هزاره یا تاجیک یا .... این قدر به دفاع از قوماندان عظا هم تندی نکن. او گلی به سر هیچ مردمی نخواهد زد. همان گونه که خلیلی و حکمتیار و ربانی گلی را به سری هیچ مردمی نزده اند. تشکر

you are right to say afghan word is disputable and discussionable i agree with you. everything that cares us somthing should be discusable . the name of afghan was a name of a place not a name for a group of people this place includes the regions, such as wardag,paktia,south and west of Ghazni,paktika, wazirestan,dere ismael khan south of nwfp province of pakistan. therefore is afhgan a sononim to pashtons otherwise uzbek ,hazara and tajik has one name only pashtons have two names . if the name of a place can be synonim then all of pashtons are also not afghans such as qandaharis, nangarharis kunaris,laghmanis, helmadis,zabulis ,peshawaris, khaybar agency,suwatis wa ghaira north pashtoons area of pakistan

Ahmad shah baba devided khorasan inton five states or province, like 1-Qandahar(from herat to qandahar and queta pakistan till ghazni) which was governed by his own Durani tribals.2- afgahne state south tribals( which is now the main base of taliban,waziristan) untill Sindh river, 3- mashreqi state ,nengarhar, peshawar, kunar, laghamn.4- QAtaghan zamin state from badghees to balkh to pole khumri, takhar and badakhshan the last 5-state was markaz province,kabul, parwan,logar,bamyan some areas of wardag and ghazni Ahmad shah baba didnt give these states the names according to peoples identity ( jajikistan, tajik abad or uzbek hazara jat or pashtonishtan) but according to geografical analysis i think he was slim at this point. there are some letters of Ahmad sha baba , which are at Indian National Archive where he has signed Ahmad Shah Durani Amire Khorsan not Amir Afghanistan
my conclusion we afghans should live under this name, dont think about Khorsan, Khorasan is and was our proud and histori, and comes never back. more than seven generations have died under this name , the people who are dreaming the slogans of khorasan like Dr Basir kamjo in Germany , nasimi in london, owesta ghorbandi in Kabul would never achieve Khorsan back even if afghanistan is devided there would never come Khorasan but only hazara jat or hazarasita ubek jat or other name for uzbek people and tajikistan or Qataghaqn Zamin. because khoradan was the name of a very big place not only from badakhshan to herat or qandahar Iran is demanding that khorasan is their proud their histori uzbekistan so on even azebayjan ,turkmenistan is demanding that RODAKI is theirs not your Badakhshis or Qatghanis. Iran would never let you change Afghanistan back to khorsan because iran has a province which name is Khorsan and is demanding its own heritage like Greece would never recognise Macedonia because Macedonia(maqdonia)is the name of a province of Greece(yunan).Alexander or sekandar comes from this region. you dont have such a economic power or other kind of powers at regionals and international levels to bring iran under preasure. Iran is struggling with Israel. like macedonia cant do that all the world stays by Greece

My friend Azar our dignity is related to our unity so if you look to India or Pakistan but i call it dirtystan how many tribes are living there but they are all united even the pashtuns in the other side of durand line do not fight with the pakis but they are killing our people so let us be wise and think deeply what gives us the name if it is afghansitan or tajikistan let us put it this way if tommorrow afghanistan is devided in two parts north and south so south will be pushtuns land and north tajikland do you think hazara,turkman or uzbek accept each other rules and power if you say yes then i refer it to th fight of 1992 and 1996 how many hazara were killed by tajik in kabul how many tajik were killed by hazara so this is nonsens it is impossible to unite them. Dear Azar brother and Roya Jan, Thank you so much for your thoughtful comments on the term so called Afghan or Afghansitan. I fully support your idea that in order to achieve a national solidarity, the name of this country must change.It is not because I am not Pashtun, but rather for the betterment of our war shattered nation. We know that there were notorious learders, kings, presidents, leader of factions who rulded this country through anarchisim and left the stracture of our nation rotten. Now, as an Afghan each of us have important obligations to work out such problems.

As a matter of fact, the name of our beautiful country was changed through the influence of Bretain which our people still suffer by using the terms like "majority, minority, Pashtun, Tajik or Uzbek Pashtun", why we all should not be called Khurasani so that we do not count much on ethnic terms. We will live in descrimination, segregation and favorism unless we change the name of this country and have a democratic and fedral state which enables all our people to enjoy the same rights and live in equality.

و از این مسله چنین نتیجه گیری باید کرد که در کشوری که حکومت مرکزی نتواند از والی یک ولایت حتی سوال کند و والی امور ولایت را همچو یک حکومت مستقل رهبری و کنترول کند این خود زوال آن کشور را نشان میدهد که شما به آن متاسفانه افتخار میکنید.

سلام به همه آنانیکه این پیام مرا می خواند. دوست خوبم اگر استاد عطا انسان جنایت کار می بود حالا در بلخ به فضل خداوند این چنین امنیت نمی بود. یک چیز واضح است انسان که مشهور شد انسان که پر قدرت و صلاحیت شد طبیعی است که مخالف پیدا می کند. کافیست که یک ماه استاد عطا در بلخ والی نباشد هلمند شمالی را شما به چشمان خود خواهید دید. این که سرمایه دار است یانه موضوع جداست. زیرا محقق، خلیلی، عباس آب فروش مشهور به دالر که سر سرمایه محقق کار می کند روز به روز بلدنگ سر بلدنگ آباد می کند.

من در بلخ برای مدتی زندگی کرده ام. در بلخ مسایل قومی مثل جاهای دیگر وطن داغ نیست. عطا نور هم دشمنی با هیچ قومی ندارد. اشتباهاتی ممکن است او هم مرتکب شود اما تا جایی که من می دانم او ضدیتی با هیچ قوم خاصی ندارد. هزاره ها اتفاقا با او رابط ای بسیار خوبی دارند و همچنان اقوام دیگر. کشتن رمضان بشردوست یک جنایت بود اما نباید کسی را بدون سند محکوم به قتل کسی کرد. اگر هر ولایت افغانستان در عدالت، همزیستی قومی، امنیت و رشد فرهنگی و اقتصادی مانند بلخ باشد که عطا والی آن است آن وقت افغانستان یک کشور ارام و خوب خواهد بود. اینکه تعدادی تبلیغ می کنند که عطا با هزاره ها و یا کدام قوم دیگر دشمنی دارد دروغ است. محقق هزاره ها نیست. دوستم ازبک ها نیست، عطا تاجیک ها نیست و انورالحق احدی قوم باز کافر امریکایی هم بشتونها نیست. این ها افرادی هستند که دیر یا زود دوران شان به سر می رسد و به دنبال کلاه های خود خواهند رفت اما اقوام و مردم و ملت و کشور افغانستان جاویدان خواهد ماند. لطفا به خاطر افراد به اقوام و مردم افغانستان توهین نکنید.

من نیز این مجاهل کبیر را با تمام سوانح اش از نزدیک میشناسم.او حتی بحال همرکابان خویش نیز رحم نمیکرد.یک قسمت جمعیت که بنام جعیت سفید یاد میگردید و تحت رهبری وی قرار داشت، مصروف قتل و کشتار افراد جمعیت سیاۀ علم سیاه بودند.که نمونه های فراوان آنرا میتوان در بخشداری های زاری و امرخ مشاهده کرد.

من نمیخواهم زبان مغز سود بران عطا شوم اما انکار نمیکنم که عطا با سایر ولایان کشو قابل مقایسه نیست.
من نزدیک به 30 ولایت افغانستان را دیده ام اما مزار شریف پیشرفت قابل ملاحظه کرده است که همه ای یمن وجود استاد عطا است.
درست است انکار نباید کرد که عطا اشتباهات و یا هم خود خواهی های ندارد ونداشته است

دوست هموطن آقای همدم ! درپناه ایزد متعال باشید . در طول عمر خود نه سلاح داشتم ، نه شمشیر و نه هم سیلاوه که مانند دیگران آدم بکشم . فقط سرو کارم با قلم بوده و بس . حتا در زمان سربازی خود نیز کاتب تولی بودم . قوماندان عطا را با همه صفاتش میشناسم .

دوست هموطن ! آبادانی شهر پدری و مادری ام مزارشریف مرهون خدمات قوماندان عطای دزد نیست که بدان یکعده دوستان ما نظر داده اند . بلی ، شهر مزارشریف آباد بود و این شهر آباد و تخریب نا شده را جنرال دوستم به این بچه مفلس تحویل داد ، اگر دست این گرگان لاش خور میرسید بار ها و بار ها این شهر زیبا را تخریب میکردند . آیا اهالی شریف گذر مارمل ، گذر چتگری ، گذر پنجشیر ، دروازه شادیان فراموش میکنند که این مجاهد بخاطر گرفتن قدرت ، جنگی را در شهر مزارشریف براه انداخت و مقاومت نکرده مانند ایزک های کاروان گیر فرار کرد و یک گلدسته روضه مبارک را نیز با توپ تخریب نمود . عزت و شرف و مال و دارایی مردم گذر های یاد شده بعد از فرار این یابو پایمال ملیشه های رسول پهلوان شد . تعمیر های زیبای مزارشریف را مردم شهر آباد کرده اند ، سرک های شهر را جاپان بازسازی نموده ، چوک های شهر را تاجران ملی شهر ما طرح ریزی و اعمار نموده اند ، امنیت شهر مدیون خدمات مردم شهر است که خودشان از شهر خود پاسداری میکنند . حال شما بفرمائید که کدام پروژه انکشافی و خدماتی دولتی ، کدام شفاخانه ، کدام موسسه عام المنفعه ، کدام پروژه شهری ( شامل برق ، آبرسانی ، کانالزاسیون وغیره ) که خیرش به مردم برسد توسط این بچه مفلس انجام پذیرفته است ؟ ورنه امکان آن میرفت که مزارشریف توسط یک والی مدبر و دانشمند با امکانات بزرگ اقتصادی و تجارتی شهر و کمک آلمانی ها و جاپانی ها بسیار پیش میرفت . این مجاهد فقط و فقط در فکر زر اندوزی و پارتمان سازی به نفع شخصی خود و انتخاب نیکتائی مدروز موتر آخرین مدل است . در شهریکه والی آن دزد ملیونی باشد ،آیا به خس دزدان راهی موجود است؟ شما از بچه ربائی های شهر ما خبر دارید که هر قلم دزدی صد هزار دالر است . اگر واقع گرا هستید یک همین حرف کفایت میکند . بیروز باشید
